Here's a few haikus......sorry I couldn't join you all at the meeting; tooth extraction intervened! As with much modern haiku, brevity and three short lines prevails, but the syllable count doesn't adhere to the strict 5-7-5. Haiku is a mode of Japanese poetry, the late 19th century revision by Masaoka Shiki of the older hokku. Haiku once were the opening verses of a linked verse form called ‘haikai no renga.’ The traditional haiku consisted of a pattern of 5, 7, 5 - on.
